I think slashing should be allowed to the stick and legs of the opponent, but when its a targeted slash to a players hands it should be a penalty. Would create more power plays and would eliminate some big injuries.

I'm sure even in this case, a lot of them would go uncalled or unseen. Guys do a lot of stuff with their sticks that can't always be policed. Maybe start handing out fines retroactively if things get missed
Kane didn't get a suspension for removing Crosby's teeth. Crosby won't get a suspension for trimming Methot's fingernails. Wilson's blood was on the ice after a high stick he took also.
NHL is going after the gladiator audience, no other sport has so much blood.
What is pathetic is that the NHL obviously is quite fine with ignoring brutal slashes on another player. As you said, they happen every game with no calls.
But look out, tap a composite stick causing it to break - automatic penalty. The NHL is not going to tolerate such violence against sticks.
Having something called the Department of Player Safety is a farce. The NHL proves over and over they do not care about player safety.
I watch 2 NBA players throw a single punch that missed the other night (Chicago/Toronto). Both players were suspended for a game. In the NHL you can drop the gloves and bludgeon a player to a bloody pulp or knock him out cold. The NHL will teach you a lesson by making you sit in a box for 5 minutes.
They do not care about player safety and as a result I look forward to when the NHL loses the concussion lawsuit as a result and gets sued for millions.
Did he slash someone yea. Was it called a penalty no. Does it make a difference it was Sidney Crosby? Not really. Do I care? No Has Sidney gotten away with murder since being in the league? Pretty much so, but who cares.
Question of the day will the Penguins target Ho-Sang tonight for wearing 66??
I for one is a huge Lemieux fan and he is ok with it I just wonder how everyone else feels about it

Who gives a poop? Let the kid wear 66. I don't even know why it matters. Not like Mario played for the Isles. I'd rather see the kid succeed than get patronized for a (frank)in jersey number.
